Wearing a watch...as a bracelet

I don't wear a lot of accessories.  Heck, I've been forgetting to put on my wedding ring since I stopped wearing it near the end of my pregnancy because of my swollen fingers. I haven't worn a watch in years, but my sweet kiddies bought me this adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs "Miss Marc Cat" watch for my birthday a couple of weeks ago that I plan on rocking all summer.  I have yet to set the time, but it's so cute that it almost doesn't matter.

I have come across some really cute bracelets and rings recently (below), but stopped myself from purchasing any because I know they'll end up sitting in my jewelry box after I wear them once or twice.  Which reminds me...I should pull out that jewelry box and see what's in there.

Wear Me Already: Splendid Wedge Sandals

Being so petite, I love me some wedges.  I think I said I had 8 pairs.  I bought these great Splendid ones a few weeks ago (I know, I know, but they were on sale!).  Now, being a mother of a newborn baby and a toddler, they're not the most practical shoes to wear so I have a feeling they'll be put at the back of the closet.  Ok, I don't have a "back of the closet" (my closet is actually very small compared to my old walk-in but we don't like to talk about that).  You know what I mean.  I don't want these to turn into a "wear me already" item.  But I'm nursing (TMI?) so it's hard to have much of a social life these days, unless that includes play dates but I think I would look silly wearing these around the house.  My only hope is to wear them when I run out alone to get milk.  I never run out to get milk.  But I want to wear these, so I'm going to start chugging the milk right now.

Clearly, I'm not in need of wedge sandals but these are nice to look at.  Sigh.

Love the neon touch!

I have a hard time looking at Christian Louboutins.  (Ok, not that hard of a time.)  They just bring back memories of my gold satin wedge sandals that I decided to sell because they didn't fit me properly (and I only wore once or twice over the few years I owned them).  Did I have to sell them?  I'm starting to think those shoes were just meant to be looked at.

Flower power

I owned one pair of casual shorts a few weeks ago.  Since I'm now on maternity leave, I figured I could use a few pairs.  So I went shopping with the intention of only buying shorts.  I was on the hunt for floral-print ones.  Being on a budget, I didn't want to spend a fortune on the designer ones I wanted (even though I may have stopped into Holt Renfrew to check them out - to see if they were on sale of course - and ended up buying those blue Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses, oops!).  I walked by American Eagle and spotted a pair of neon ones (which of course I bought) and came across these great floral-print ones.  Both pairs: only $50!  Why don't I shop there more often?

Neon

I get so excited when I see neon that I have a hard time not buying an item when I see it (I bought 3 pieces for the summer so they'll have to do).  Some people literally scream and run away when they see these colours, but when I walked into Aritzia I gravitated toward this dress like a moth to a flame.  I was pregnant at the time and didn't even try it on, but I had to have it (and hoped for the best).  I want to wear this dress every day!  I just might.  (Also, another great dress to wear when you're trying to hide a post-baby belly.)

Not sure about neon?  An accessory is a great way to start!  I warn you though, it gets addicting.

Ahhh Summer!

Fall is my favourite season...for the clothing, not so much the weather.  It just reminds me that winter is around the corner.  I live for summer!  I invested in some pieces for the summer and now it's time to get back into the "wear me already" mode, since there are a lot of pieces in my closet that have never seen the light of day.  I was doing so well with my skirt challenge last fall, but getting pregnant made it difficult to continue.  My next challenge: to stop "saving" clothes.  I've been dropping my son off at preschool and noticed I've been throwing on the same outfit. I think to myself, I don't want to "waste" a cute/nice outfit on driving my son to preschool, but this is my life now (or at least for the next year), so what am I waiting for?  So when my daughter had a doctor's appointment yesterday, instead of throwing on the usual, I threw on one of my favourite new dresses. There's nothing better than a dress to throw on after just having a baby.

Favourite Maternity Jeans

Fall came and went.  I had a baby (a girl!).  The hardest part was that fall is my favourite season and I was gaining weight...FAST.  I basically lived in a pair of black maternity pants and a few tops that were long enough to hide my growing belly.  For seven months. Depressing.  But I didn't want to spend too much money on maternity clothes.  I did, however, need a pair of maternity jeans and since I had to buy them a couple of months in, I wanted to invest in a great pair.  I never thought I'd actually be excited to wear a pair of maternity jeans, but I was, and I lived in these.
