16 Day Skirt Challenge: Day 7

Berry colours (i.e., purple, aubergine, bordeaux, etc.) are a big trend for fall and I said I "needed" to buy a piece to complete my wardrobe because the colour was missing from my closet.  Soo I bought a sweater.  And then I looked in my closet and saw this skirt (and a few other items in said colours, including a purse that completed this outfit). Oops! This is why I need this challenge.

16 Day Skirt Challenge: Day 6

Speaking of colour blocking, another great combination as shown in my favourite Marc Jacobs peep toe pumps = purple + pink!  Thankfully, the weather has been cooperating and I'm able to get some more uses out of these shoes before I have to start wearing tights (which, unfortunately, wouldn't fit with these shoes otherwise I would wear them all fall).  I don't know what's taken me so long to wear this blazer, seeing as it's always freezing in our office, but today was the perfect day.

16 Day Skirt Challenge: Day 5 + Colour Blocking + Bright Shoes

I've always loved the idea of putting two brights together.  My favourite combination = pink + orange.  I've been trying to stay away from black as far as I remember.  When I do wear it to work, people have commented that they usually don't see me in black.  I do like black for an occasional dress, but it has to have some detail to make it interesting. Black dress pants are obviously a staple and easy to pair with anything in the fall/winter, especially on days when you're rushing out the door (which I am, a lot).  I usually focus on skirts and pants, so I tend to wear a lot of black sweaters and turtlenecks in the winter.  Again, because I'm usually rushing in the morning and it's the easiest colour to throw on (besides white of course) and not worry whether it matches said skirt or pants. Colour blocking isn't new this season but I've been excited to try the trend for fall.  It doesn't necessarily mean two brights together but, to me, that's more exciting.  In the summer, I paired bright orange sunglasses with bright blue pants but I've decided to take it one step further, using a bright yellow skirt I bought this summer.  Transitioning a summer skirt into fall = bonus points!  (Will pair the skirt with tights for winter = triple points!)  If I didn't stop to actually think about it, I never would've thought this skirt would take me through 4 seasons.

My Favourite Looks from SS12/Spring 2012 Collections

So fall is officially here.  Well, not "officially" but whatever.  This weather could be mistaken for winter, it was so cold today.  I hate when I have an outfit planned and the weather does not cooperate.  I came up with a fall outfit using my summer bright yellow skirt to wear yesterday but it was definitely too cold not to wear tights.  I finally had to give in.  I could wear the skirt with tights but it's supposed to be nicer next week - here's hoping! - so I thought I would try saving it until next week.  I want a proper fall.  I want to wear my light jackets, not coats.  I want to wear peep-toe pumps or shoes with socks, not go from sandals straight to boots.  I do NOT want to wear boots for 7 months.  We're supposed to have 4 seasons, not 2!  So to depress me even more, New York Fashion Week was showing Spring/Summer Collections for 2012.  Maybe if I stare long enough at the outfits and picture myself at a resort, I can fool my mind into thinking I'm not freezing right now.  It's not working.  Anyway, I'm SO happy colours, especially bright colours, are not going anywhere for spring.  It's going to make my challenge a lot easier.  But if we're not going to have a proper fall then can we just skip winter too, please?

16 Day Skirt Challenge: Day 4

So I do own a midi skirt...  I guess sometimes you need to actually look in your closet.

Resisting a Skirt...and a Sale!

A co-worker just asked me to walk to the GAP with her on our break.  It's down the hall from our office.  (By the way, this co-worker knows I'm trying to stop spending, how dare she ask me?!).  Soo I went.  I need tights and don't want to pay $20/ea. at Legs Beautiful so I thought I would check the GAP.  Thankfully, they had gorgeous tights for 2/$25 so I bought them.  As I was walking out, I saw the GORGEOUS skirt (below) on sale for $32 + 30% off!  A skirt for $22?!  How could I resist?  I can't resist a skirt, let alone a sale.  But I did.  I'm actually pretty proud of myself.

16 Day Skirt Challenge: Day 3

I bought this skirt last fall so it was one of the few that was on constant rotation.  When I wasn't quite ready for tights, I wore black socks.  This fall, I thought I'd switch things up by adding these polka dot ones.
